Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, Ayodele Ogunsan, has described Lagos as the safest state in Nigeria, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to strengthening security agencies through sustained investment in operational equipment and personnel welfare.
Ogunsan made the assertion during the presentation of bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets and raincoats to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency as part of efforts to enhance the operational capacity and safety of officers combating drug trafficking and abuse across the state.
He noted that security remains a strategic priority for the administration of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, stressing that the state has continued to invest in logistics, equipment and welfare support for security agencies to sustain investor confidence, social stability and economic growth.
According to him, the latest donation reflects the Lagos State Government’s commitment to building a proactive and collaborative security architecture capable of addressing emerging security threats.
Commending Governor Sanwo-Olu’s support for security agencies, Ogunsan said the governor had consistently demonstrated strong political will in strengthening the state’s security framework.
“I want to commend the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, in whose authority I am here today. He is the brain behind all that we do for security agencies in Lagos,” he said.
The LSSTF boss also praised the leadership of the Lagos NDLEA Strategic Command under Abubakar Liman Wali, describing the command as one of the agency’s best-performing formations nationwide.
He explained that the protective equipment was provided to improve officers’ safety during operations and urged personnel to make effective use of the items.
Ogunsan also warned criminal elements against operating within Lagos, maintaining that the state would not tolerate activities capable of undermining public safety.
“Lagos is not vacant. We are not going to accept anything short of safety. Lagos is security conscious and will not harbour criminals. We are monitoring activities on land, at sea and in the air,” he said.
Responding, Assistant Commander General of Narcotics, Abubakar Liman Wali, expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for the intervention, describing the donation as timely.
He said the protective gear, particularly the bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets and 100 raincoats, would significantly enhance the safety and welfare of NDLEA officers carrying out enforcement operations, especially during the rainy season.
Wali reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intensifying efforts against illicit drug trafficking and abuse through enforcement, advocacy and public enlightenment, while pledging continued collaboration with the Lagos State Government in promoting a safer society.
