The Lagos State University, LASU community has welcomed Professor Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo as the institution’s 10th Substantive Vice Chancellor, following the completion of the five year tenure of her predecessor, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji Bello.
The assumption of office was marked by excitement and jubilation across the university, with staff, students, friends of the institution and other stakeholders gathering at various locations within the university premises to welcome the new Vice Chancellor.
Badejo, who formally assumed office on Monday, said her administration would build on the achievements of previous administrations while pursuing initiatives aimed at advancing LASU’s academic, research, innovation and infrastructural development.
She expressed appreciation to the university’s management, staff, students and other stakeholders for the confidence reposed in her and called for their support and cooperation in advancing the institution.
The new Vice Chancellor also reaffirmed her commitment to an open door policy, excellence, inclusivity, innovation, accountability and good governance, with a determination to further strengthen LASU’s position as a leading institution of higher learning.
Her assumption of office followed the completion of the five year tenure of Olatunji Bello, the university’s 9th Substantive Vice Chancellor, whose administration recorded various initiatives and milestones in the development of the institution.
The transition marked a change in leadership while reinforcing the university’s tradition of institutional continuity.
As the new administration begins its tenure, the university community expressed optimism about the journey ahead and a shared commitment to collaboration, innovation and sustainable development.
Badejo holds the titles FCASSON, FAPROCON and MNAE.
