Lagos State University, LASU has earned high commendations from the National Universities Commission, NUC, following a successful resource assessment and accreditation exercise.
The NUC teams presented their reports during an exit meeting with Vice-Chancellor Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello and other principal officers at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Main Campus, Ojo, on Monday, February 9, 2026. Members of the teams praised LASUās facilities, resources, and remarkable growth, while also noting areas for further improvement.
Professor Olatunji-Bello expressed appreciation for the peer review exercise, assuring that Management would address the teamsā observations. She reiterated LASUās commitment to academic excellence, highlighting the Universityās combination of physical and virtual learning, e-resources, and status as Nigeriaās most advanced digital state university.
Speaking on behalf of the NUC teams, Professor Ajibade Oyeloye described the exercise as a constructive peer review, aimed at enhancing institutional quality. Mrs. Roseline Odueka, representing the NUC Executive Secretary, affirmed the teamās objectivity and their goal of contributing to LASUās continuous development.
The accreditation process covered programmes including Special Education, Architecture, and Library and Information Science, while resource verification included Broadcasting, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Public Relations, Entrepreneurship, Film Production, and Journalism/Multimedia.
Principal officers and Deans of the concerned faculties were actively involved in the exercise, ensuring full cooperation and support to the NUC teams.
