The Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau, LASRAB has commenced a two-day capacity-building workshop for archivists and Heads of Records Units across Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs in the State Public Service.
The workshop, themed “Strengthening Records Surveys and Information Governance for Effective Public Service Delivery,” began on June 23 and concludes on June 24, 2026, at LASRAB House in Magodo, Lagos, with the aim of strengthening records management and information governance practices.
Speaking at the opening session, Director-General of LASRAB, Amodu Razaak, commended participants for their commitment and professionalism in managing records within their various MDAs.
He reiterated the bureau’s commitment to continuous training and retraining of records management personnel, stressing the need for officers to remain professionally equipped to meet emerging challenges in records and archives administration.
According to him, effective records management plays a critical role in ensuring accountability, transparency and improved public service delivery across government institutions.
Razaak urged participants to actively engage in the workshop’s interactive sessions and practical exercises, while also challenging them to uphold the values of the Lagos State Public Service and project the positive image of LASRAB in their respective agencies.
The training featured presentations from experts in the field, including Oseni Kolawole, Managing Director of PWK Consultancy Services; Austin Otigbu of the National Archives, Ibadan; and Ifeyinwa Okafor.
The facilitators highlighted the importance of archives as tools for accountability, transparency and good governance, while encouraging participants to embrace digital technologies to enhance records management efficiency, accessibility and long-term preservation.
They also called for sustained investment in professional development and the modernization of records and archives management practices to align with global standards.
A total of 50 participants from various MDAs attended the workshop, which forms part of LASRAB’s broader efforts to build a professional and innovative records management system that supports effective governance and quality public service delivery in Lagos State.
