Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, has represented the State Government at the 4th Future Forum, the European Union’s flagship conference on diaspora engagement for development held at the ICMPD Brussels Mission, Belgium.
Organized by the EU Global Diaspora Facility (EUDiF), the forum which held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, brought together policymakers, institutional partners, and diaspora organizations from across the world to share best practices, foster collaboration, and strengthen global partnerships for sustainable development.
Speaking during the Future Forum Capacity Development Lab, Institutional Partners Side Session, Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka highlighted the Lagos State Government’s strategic investment in tourism, creative arts, and entertainment as key drivers of cultural preservation and economic empowerment.
She emphasized that through the State’s heritage initiatives and creative economy programmes, the Sanwo-Olu administration continues to strengthen Lagos’ cultural identity while promoting tourism as a catalyst for inclusive growth and youth engagement.
The Commissioner further commended the European Union and EUDiF for providing a valuable platform to exchange ideas and deepen collaboration between governments and diaspora communities in advancing sustainable development goals.
