The Lagos State Police Command has presented 157 cheques worth N89.2 million to families and next of kin of deceased police officers who served under the Command.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, presented the cheques at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, as part of welfare and insurance claims for officers who lost their lives in the course of service.

The cheques totalled N89,201,523.07 and were presented to beneficiaries of the deceased officers.

Fatai said the financial support could not replace the lives of the fallen officers but demonstrated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to honouring their sacrifices and supporting their families.

He sympathised with the beneficiaries and urged them to make judicious use of the funds, particularly for the welfare and education of children and other dependants left behind by the deceased officers.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to facilitating the prompt processing of legitimate claims due to families of deceased personnel.

He also assured serving officers that their welfare and that of their families remained a priority of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

Fatai said although no financial provision could replace a loved one, the intervention would provide some relief to the affected families and reinforce the assurance that the sacrifices of fallen officers had not been forgotten.

The Lagos State Police Command appreciated the Inspector General of Police for the intervention and expressed sympathy and continued solidarity with the beneficiaries.
