The Lagos State Police Command, through the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, in collaboration with the Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area, LCDA, has sensitised transport operators, traders and other stakeholders on the dangers of drug abuse, cultism and election violence.
The sensitisation programme, held at the Apapa Iganmu LCDA Secretariat, was aimed at raising awareness on the need for collective action against social vices and promoting safer communities.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, urged participants to shun all forms of criminality and embrace lawful conduct.
Fatai who was represented by the Area Commander, Area B Command, ACP Onyinyechi Onwuamaegbu, highlighted the critical role of transport operators and traders in promoting peace and security, encouraging them to support the Police by providing timely and credible information while ensuring that criminal elements are not harboured within their communities.
The programme also featured goodwill messages from the Executive Chairman of Apapa Iganmu LCDA, Divisional Police Officers and other stakeholders, who underscored the importance of collective responsibility in combating crime, preventing drug abuse and cultism, and sustaining peaceful coexistence.
