The Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Marine Transport, Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshilokun, has pledged continued support for the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen security across Lagos and Ogun states.
Eshilokun made the commitment on Monday during a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh.
The visit, according to the police, was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the legislature and the police in promoting public safety, sustaining peace and enhancing security across the zone.
Accompanied by members of his entourage, the senator commended the leadership of Zone 2 Headquarters for its professionalism, commitment and sacrifices in protecting lives and property in Lagos and Ogun states.
He also praised officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force for maintaining law and order despite prevailing security challenges, noting that their dedication and resilience had contributed to the relative peace enjoyed across Lagos and its environs.
Eshilokun urged police personnel to remain steadfast in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities and assured them of his continued confidence and support in delivering effective policing services.
Responding, AIG Jimoh expressed appreciation to the senator for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and an encouragement to officers who continue to make sacrifices in safeguarding the country.
The AIG reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthening community policing, improving operational effectiveness and sustaining peace across Lagos and Ogun states.
He assured the senator and residents that Zone 2 Command would continue to work with government institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders to combat crime, maintain law and order, and promote a safer environment across the two states.
