Health Emergency Initiative, HEI has appointed Mr. Hyginus Uche Omeje as a member of its Board of Trustees.
The appointment was approved at the Board’s meeting on July 31, 2026, following a recommendation by the Board’s Ethics and Governance Committee.
Omeje, a road safety professional with more than 30 years of experience in the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), brings expertise in road safety management, emergency response, operations, leadership, institutional coordination and public safety to the board.
Before his retirement in March 2026, he served as Deputy Corps Marshal (DCM Rtd) in charge of Operations at the FRSC, where he was responsible for developing and coordinating nationwide operational strategies, supervising field commands, overseeing special intervention patrols, analysing road traffic crash data and strengthening responses to road safety challenges.
During his career, Omeje also held senior positions including Zonal Commanding Officer in Osogbo and Ilorin, Assistant Corps Marshal (Federal Operations), and Sector Commander in Lagos and Anambra States.
His responsibilities included road safety enforcement, emergency rescue services for crash victims, public education, inter-agency collaboration and the development of strategies to reduce road traffic crashes.
Omeje is currently the Managing Partner of Hystar Integrated Global Limited.
HEI said his experience in road crash prevention, emergency rescue and nationwide operational coordination would strengthen its work in post-crash care, first responder training and health emergency preparedness.
The organisation said Omeje’s experience, integrity, leadership and commitment to public safety would contribute to advancing its mission of saving lives, strengthening emergency response systems and improving access to timely care for vulnerable communities.
