GoVote, a civic initiative powered by Co-creation HUB, CcHUB has announced a strategic partnership with the Open Institute to enhance civic education, citizen participation and democratic
accountability across East and West Africa.
This collaboration merges GoVote’s expertise in empowering citizens with information to make informed
voting decisions in Nigeria with the Open Institute’s extensive experience in strengthening open
governance and grassroots engagement across Kenya and the region.
As part of CcHUB’s broader commitment to advancing civic resilience across Africa, GoVote serves as a key initiative that drivescitizen awareness, accountability, and participation in democratic processes.
Through this partnership, Govote also aims to build stronger ecosystems for democratic participation by equipping civil society organizations (CSOs), active citizens, human rights defenders, policymakers, and public officials with the tools and knowledge to engage meaningfully in governance.
“At GoVote, we are focused on helping citizens understand their role in shaping governance and
leveraging digital technology to strengthen democracy,” said Eweka Yvonne, Senior Programmes
Manager – Election and Governance at CcHUB.
“This partnership with the Open Institute allows us to take this mission further—beyond elections—by fostering long-term civic engagement, inclusive governance, and active citizenship across the continent.”
Both organizations will work together to equip and strengthen stakeholders’ knowledge across the
region with civic education content and open data initiatives that drive transparency and innovation in
Africa.
By connecting platforms like GoVote.ng with community-driven initiatives like Somo Africa, the collaboration aims to bridge information gaps and create participatory systems that enhance decision-
making and hold leaders accountable.
“We are excited to collaborate with GoVote to scale meaningful civic action and governance reform,”
said Loise Mboo, Chief of Staff & Director of Team Wellness. “This partnership is about strengthening
democratic institutions, networks of CSOs and CBOs, and other stakeholders by empowering them with
the information and agency to influence change.”
