FirstBank Targets SME Growth with Practical Sales Strategies

FirstBank is set to equip small and medium-sized enterprises, SMEs with practical sales and customer-acquisition strategies at the third-quarter edition of its SMEConnect Webinar scheduled for September 9, 2026.

The webinar, themed “The SME Growth Blueprint: Practical Sales Strategies to Win Customers and Boost Revenue,” is expected to focus on strategies for improving customer acquisition, increasing sales conversion, strengthening customer loyalty and building sustainable revenue.

The session will bring together business owners and industry practitioners to share practical approaches to overcoming some of the challenges SMEs face in attracting and retaining customers and converting market opportunities into business growth.

Speakers at the webinar include Helen Mojisola Ijaola, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Bags Warehouse; Onome Gbenga-Adewara, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mamalicious Products Nigeria; and Olusola Ogunsakin, Group Head, Retail Banking Group, FirstBank.

The session will be hosted by Helen A. Willie, Head, SME Banking, FirstBank, while Olajumoke Moyo-Ladipo, Team Lead, SME Engagement & Advisory, FirstBank, will moderate the discussion.

Speaking ahead of the programme, Chuma Ezirim, Group Executive, e-Business and Retail Products, FirstBank, said many SMEs with viable products and services struggle to translate them into sustainable revenue because of gaps in sales strategy and customer acquisition.

“Growth is not accidental; it is driven by the ability of businesses to create value, win customers, and convert opportunities into sustainable revenue,” Ezirim said.

He said strengthening the capacity of SMEs could have wider economic benefits through increased business activity, employment creation and expansion of local enterprises.

The SMEConnect platform is part of FirstBank’s efforts to provide SMEs with access to business knowledge alongside financial services, including SME loans, digital banking solutions and advisory support.

The bank said the platform is intended to help businesses formalise their operations, expand their customer base and access new markets.

The webinar is expected to provide participating entrepreneurs with actionable sales tools and insights that can be applied to their businesses as they seek to increase revenue and achieve sustainable growth.
