Nigerian actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao is set to hit the cinemas nationwide on April 18 with her highly anticipated film, “Owanbe Thieves. “
This comes on the heels of her previous film, “Ajakaju: The Beast of Two Worlds”, which grossed over N250 million at the box office.
She stated that the film’s success was a surprise to her.
“Honestly, I didn’t see it coming because this is my first time at the cinemas. I didn’t know if ‘Ajakaju’ was going to do that much. I was scared at the point, and I was trying to create a buzz around the film.”
According to her, the success of “Ajakaju” inspired her to give back to her fans and community. “I just want to thank God for the success of ‘Ajakaju.
Ajao said she recently empowered 25 people with work tools, including sewing machines, hair dryers, ring lights, and makeup chairs.
“I just want to thank God for the success of ‘Ajakaju’. The fact that people went all out, took money out of their pockets to watch the film, made me want to give back in my little way.”
Gearing up for the release of “Owanbe Thieves,” she assured that the new film promises to be just as exciting as “Ajakaju.
She expressed excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to showcase her craft.
“I’m thrilled to bring ‘Owanbe Thieves’ to cinemas across Nigeria. This film is a labour of love, and I’m confident that audiences will love it just as much as they loved ‘Ajakaju’.
In her projections for the film, the filmmaker humbly deferred to God. “I leave that to God. “
She encouraged Nigerians to continue supporting the film industry, despite the challenges posed by the economy.
As for whether she still makes home videos, Ajao assured fans that she has not abandoned her roots. “Yes, I do. YouTube is our home, we cannot neglect YouTube.
“This is like a once-in-a-year kind of project, but we have our audience too on YouTube, to keep us going,” she said.
