Fidelity Bank Empowers 1,950 Residents in Anambra with Tools, Cash, Food Support

Fidelity Bank Plc, has empowered 1,950 beneficiaries in Anambra State through a comprehensive intervention programme aimed at promoting economic inclusion, education and social welfare.

The empowerment programme, held in Awka in partnership with Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, an NGO led by the Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo, saw the distribution of 200 sewing and grinding machines to women entrepreneurs, N25 million in seed capital support, 1,500 food packs to vulnerable households, and 250 solar-powered school bags to pupils.

Speaking at the event, Fidelity Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, described the initiative as a demonstration of the bank’s commitment to empowering individuals and strengthening communities.

She explained that the intervention brought together three of the bank’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives—the Fidelity Food Bank Initiative, Lighting Young Minds Programme, and Give Her Power Initiative—for the first time, with Anambra emerging as the pioneer beneficiary state.

According to her, the programme is designed to support vulnerable families, improve educational outcomes for children and enhance women’s economic participation through entrepreneurship.

“At Fidelity Bank, our purpose goes beyond banking. We are committed to helping individuals realise their aspirations, overcome challenges and build better lives,” she said.

On her part, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo commended Fidelity Bank for its commitment to community development and social impact, noting that the intervention would contribute significantly to improving the lives of beneficiaries.

She said the initiative aligns with efforts to empower families, support education and promote sustainable economic development across the state.

The Fidelity Empowerment Programme is part of the bank’s broader commitment to driving positive social impact through targeted interventions in education, economic empowerment, food security and community development across Nigeria.
