The Federal Ministry of Education has refuted claims circulating on social media alleging the cancellation of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE due to widespread malpractice.
In a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the Ministry described the report as false, misleading, and intended to create unnecessary panic and confusion among students, parents, and stakeholders.
According to the Ministry, the 2025 WAEC examinations were successfully concluded, with only a few isolated cases of malpractice that were swiftly addressed by the appropriate authorities. Similarly, the ongoing NECO examinations are said to be progressing smoothly, with no reported incidents of malpractice as of the time of the release.
“The Federal Ministry of Education has not received any official report from WAEC, NECO, or any examination body indicating widespread examination malpractice,” the statement clarified.
The Ministry urged the public to disregard the fake press release and warned against the spread of misinformation. It also advised that information should only be obtained from verified and credible sources, including the official websites of the Ministry, WAEC, and NECO, as well as reputable media platforms.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity and credibility of public examinations and stated that it will continue to work with examination bodies to enhance monitoring and enforcement.
It further warned that individuals found responsible for disseminating false information would be reported to the appropriate security agencies for investigation and prosecution.
