Dangote Refinery IPO: Devakumar Woos Investors With Promise of Strong Returns

The Vice President, Oil and Gas, Dangote Industries Limited, Edwin Devakumar, has assured prospective investors in the ongoing Initial Public Offering of Dangote Petroleum Refinery that the investment offers strong prospects for long term value appreciation and returns.

Devakumar said the refinery’s operational performance, growing market share, strong demand outlook and strategic position in Africa’s energy value chain make the IPO an attractive opportunity for both institutional and retail investors.

According to him, the refinery has commenced profit-making operations and was established to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported refined petroleum products, strengthen energy security, conserve foreign exchange, create employment and position the country as a major exporter of petroleum products.

“The Dangote Refinery is one of the most significant industrial investments ever undertaken on the African continent. It addresses a critical gap in the energy sector while creating substantial economic value. Those investing in the refinery’s ongoing IPO are investing in a business with strong fundamentals, enormous growth potential, and a proven capacity to generate sustainable returns,” Devakumar said.

He said the IPO was designed not only to raise capital but also to broaden ownership of the refinery and enable Nigerians and global investors to participate in the value being created by the facility.

“The objective is not merely to raise capital. It is to democratise ownership of a strategic national asset and allow millions of Nigerians and global investors to participate in the value being created by the refinery. We believe this is an opportunity for investors to become partners in Africa’s industrial transformation story,” he said.

Devakumar said proceeds from the offering would support the company’s long term growth initiatives, operational optimisation, expansion projects, working capital requirements and strategic investments across the petroleum value chain.

He also identified the refinery’s integrated business model, advanced technologies, large scale production capacity, deep water port infrastructure and extensive logistics network as competitive advantages that position it to serve domestic, regional and international markets.

“The refinery is strategically positioned to serve domestic, regional, and international markets. Demand for refined petroleum products across Africa continues to grow, and our scale, efficiency, and location provide a unique advantage in capturing these opportunities. This translates directly into long-term value creation for shareholders,” he said.

Devakumar said the refinery’s ability to process a wide range of crude oil grades and produce petrol, diesel, aviation fuel, liquefied petroleum gas and petrochemical feedstocks had created multiple revenue streams that could strengthen its earnings potential.

He added that the company remained committed to corporate governance, transparency, financial discipline, environmental stewardship and operational excellence.

Devakumar said these commitments would be further strengthened after the conclusion of the IPO and listing of the shares, with investors expected to benefit from regular financial disclosures and governance standards.

“Investors will benefit from regular financial disclosures, strict governance standards, and a management team focused on driving sustainable growth and profitability,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the refinery’s future earnings potential, expanding export footprint and strategic role in Africa’s energy security would continue to attract investor interest.

“This IPO represents more than an investment opportunity; it is an invitation to participate in a historic enterprise that is redefining the African energy landscape. We are confident that investors who subscribe to the offer will be well-positioned to reap bountiful returns as the refinery continues its growth journey and delivers value to shareholders,” Devakumar said.
