The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, has visited the Ibogun Campus of Olabisi Onabanjo University to assess the security situation and engage stakeholders on measures to enhance safety within the institution and its host communities.
The visit, which included the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Bolanle Muritala, and Area Commander, Ifo, Seyi Williams, featured a strategic meeting with key stakeholders, including the Vice Chancellor, Ayodeji Johnson Agboola; the Provost of the College of Engineering and Environmental Sciences, Bashir Olufemi Odufuwa; and the Olu of Ibogun-Sowumi, Timothy Sowumi.
Also present were members of the institution’s management, community leaders, and representatives of the Student Union Government, who highlighted pressing security concerns affecting both the campus and surrounding areas.
Stakeholders collectively called for coordinated and practical solutions to address the challenges.
Responding, CP Ojajuni assured that the Command would immediately strengthen security presence around the university and adjoining communities through increased patrols and proactive policing strategies.
A major outcome of the visit was the announcement of the establishment of a police post within the university community to improve rapid response, enhance visibility, and deepen community policing efforts.
The police boss also engaged other security outfits, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun Corps, and So-Safe Corps, to strengthen inter-agency collaboration in securing the area.
During the visit, Ojajuni also inspected the Ibogun Divisional Police Headquarters, where he assessed operational readiness and issued directives to officers aimed at improving efficiency and service delivery.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to community policing, sustained stakeholder engagement, and enhanced collaboration among security agencies to maintain peace and security across Ogun State.
