The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has embarked on a strategic familiarisation tour of the Sagamu and Owode Egba Area Commands.
This part of efforts to strengthen grassroots security, deepen community policing and enhance collaboration with critical stakeholders across the state.
The tour, which featured engagements with traditional rulers, local government officials, corporate organisations, community leaders and police personnel, underscored the command’s commitment to adopting a proactive and partnership-driven approach to crime prevention and public safety.
Accompanied by members of the Command Management Team and the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Ogun State, Comrade Lawal Abdullahi, the police commissioner began the tour with a courtesy visit to the palace of Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, where he sought the monarch’s continued support in strengthening security across the Remo axis.
Ojajuni thanked the traditional ruler for his consistent support for policing initiatives and called for sustained collaboration to enhance community security.
Responding, the Akarigbo commended officers and men of the Ogun State Police Command for their professionalism and dedication, while praising the cordial relationship between the police and communities in Sagamu.
At the Sagamu Area Command, the commissioner held an interactive session with community stakeholders, members of the Ogun State Hunters Association and police personnel.
He commended residents and stakeholders for turning out despite heavy rainfall, describing their attendance as evidence of their commitment to public safety. He also praised the hunters and other community members for their support through intelligence gathering and other security interventions.
Addressing police officers, Ojajuni lauded their performance during the recent joint cross-border security operation between the Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands, code-named “Operation Kosaye.”
He urged them to sustain their professionalism, discipline and patriotism to ensure continued peace and security across the state.
The commissioner also commissioned a newly renovated office at the Sagamu Divisional Headquarters.
The event was attended by retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Peter Babatunde Ogunyanwo, and representatives of Lafarge Africa Plc, whom he commended for supporting the police through corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at improving operational infrastructure.
The tour later moved to the Owode Egba Area Command, where Ojajuni paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Adesina Ogunshola Lanre.
During the visit, the police commissioner described the Owode Egba Area Command as a strategic industrial corridor and the largest area command in Ogun State, noting that officers had remained committed to protecting lives and property despite security challenges associated with the area’s commercial activities.
The council chairman commended the police for maintaining peace and security within the local government area.
Ojajuni also reaffirmed the commitment of the command to sustaining “Operation Kosaye,” noting that the special operation remained active in tackling cross-border crimes. He further requested that the local government chairman convey the command’s appreciation to the Ogun State Government for its support toward the initiative.
At the Owode Egba Area Command Headquarters, the commissioner was received by traditional rulers, community leaders, officers, men of the command and heads of other security agencies.
He applauded the strong collaboration among security agencies operating in the area, saying the synergy had contributed significantly to keeping criminal activities under control.
Ojajuni reiterated that the objective of “Operation Kosaye” was to ensure that cross-border criminals found no safe haven within Ogun State and appealed to stakeholders to continue supporting the police through information sharing and community partnership.
The tour concluded with a visit to the TGI Industrial Complex at the Sagamu Interchange, where the commissioner met with the company’s management led by the General Manager of Operations, Miranda Grande.
Speaking during the visit, Ojajuni highlighted the role of employment generation in reducing crime, noting that job creation and economic opportunities were critical components of sustainable security.
He also commended the company for its corporate social responsibility initiatives and support for security agencies.
In his remarks, Grande appreciated the police command for its efforts in combating crime around the Sagamu Interchange and across Ogun State, describing the collaboration between the company and the police as instrumental in maintaining a secure environment for businesses and residents.
