The Boy-Child Transformation Centre, BTC has announced plans to host its 5th Anniversary Transformation Summit on May 16, 2026, in Ikoyi, Lagos, as part of efforts to address challenges affecting the development of the boy-child.
The summit is expected to bring together corporate leaders, policymakers, educators, parents, and mental health advocates to examine what the organisation described as a growing but underreported crisis surrounding the well-being and future of boys.
A major highlight of the event will be the unveiling of UNBOXED: Shaping the Boy-Child for True Manhood, a new book by BTC Founder, Nkiruka Moghalu-Joel. The publication is positioned as an execution-focused guide aimed at addressing societal expectations and behavioural challenges confronting young boys.
According to Moghalu-Joel, the initiative seeks to challenge what she described as the “Macho Box”, a societal framework that discourages emotional expression and equates vulnerability with weakness.
She noted that the lack of emotional support systems for boys contributes to negative coping mechanisms and broader societal consequences, including strained family structures and leadership gaps.
The summit will also feature the final pitch session of the Walk-in-My-Shoes (WIMS) Challenge, where young participants will present practical, peer-driven solutions to social issues affecting boys, with a grand prize of ₦1 million at stake.
Organisers said the event is designed to move beyond advocacy to actionable strategies, with a focus on fostering emotional intelligence, resilience, and responsible leadership among boys.
The BTC noted that the anniversary summit represents a critical step toward reshaping societal perceptions and promoting structured interventions to secure the future of the boy-child.
