AIG Maritime Engages IMAN, Reaffirms Commitment to Professional, Accountable Policing

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Maritime Police Command, AIG Okunade Ronke Nurat, fsi, mspsp, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to accountability, professionalism and effective stakeholder engagement in the discharge of its responsibilities within Nigeria’s maritime environment.

AIG Nurat gave the assurance during a meeting with representatives of the Importers Association of Nigeria, IMAN, South-West Zone, led by its Chairman, Mr. Joseph Ajoku, at the Maritime Police Command, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos.

She assured the delegation that accountability, professionalism and respect for due process remain fundamental principles guiding the Command’s operations, adding that the Command would continue to review its operational processes, strengthen internal accountability mechanisms and address legitimate concerns brought to its attention through appropriate channels.

The AIG also solicited the continued cooperation of IMAN and other maritime stakeholders through timely sharing of credible information and constructive feedback to enhance intelligence-led policing, prevent criminal activities and improve security within the port environment.

Responding, the Chairman of IMAN, South-West Zone, Mr. Joseph Ajoku, appreciated the AIG for the opportunity for direct engagement and dialogue. He expressed the Association’s willingness to collaborate with the Maritime Police Command towards promoting a secure, transparent and efficient port environment conducive to legitimate trade.
