AIG Jimoh Visits Western Naval Command, Seeks Stronger Maritime Security Collaboration in Lagos

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has reinforced the need for deeper inter-agency collaboration with the Nigerian Navy, following a strategic courtesy visit to the Western Naval Command in Lagos.

The visit, which took place on April 24, 2026, saw the AIG engage with the Flag Officer Commanding the Western Naval Command, AA Mustapha, at the Naval Base in Apapa, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational synergy in the coastal and maritime domain.

During the meeting, AIG Jimoh underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Navy, particularly in intelligence sharing, joint operations, and maritime security.

He noted that the maritime sector remains a critical component of Nigeria’s economy and requires coordinated security efforts to safeguard national assets and prevent criminal activities.

He further stressed that effective policing in coastal regions demands seamless cooperation among security agencies, especially in tackling emerging threats such as smuggling, piracy, and other transnational crimes.

In his response, Rear Admiral Mustapha commended the AIG for the visit and reiterated the Navy’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Police.

He assured that the Western Naval Command remains ready to collaborate in ensuring peace, stability, and security across the maritime environment.

The engagement highlights renewed efforts by the Zone 2 Command to deepen strategic alliances with sister security agencies, with a view to enhancing coordinated responses to security challenges and ensuring a safer environment for residents and businesses in Lagos and beyond.
