Agriculture Minister Praises Origin Tech Group’s Partnership with Federal Government on Greener Hope Agricultural Productivity Programme

On Tuesday, 25th June 2024, the Federal Executive Council approved an Agro-Development Syndicated Facility, enabling Origin Tech Group to lead Nigeria’s pioneering integrated food security systems through the Greener Hope Agricultural Productivity Programme. This large-scale agricultural mechanization initiative, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, aims to expand food production by 1 million tonnes and double farmers’ incomes.

Speaking on the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA Live programme, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, commended Origin Tech Group for its innovative, home-grown project. He highlighted that the programme intends to develop integrated food security systems combining food production, logistics, and market hubs across 150,000 hectares nationwide.

Kyari elaborated, “The project will provide irrigation equipment, mechanization tools, and land clearing services for farms ranging from 2,000 to 25,000 hectares per cluster.” He also noted the programme’s potential to create approximately 1.5 million jobs and reduce food prices by 25%, comparing it to a Marshall Plan for food production.

Scheduled to start with the 2024 dry season farming, the programme aims to achieve its goals within three years, with a funding timeline of 10 years, focusing initially on key crops.

Earlier this year, President Bola Tinubu emphasized the importance of the Greener Hope Agricultural Productivity Programme during his visit to Minna, Niger State. He described it as a cornerstone of his administration’s efforts to ensure food security and support local industries by deploying advanced agricultural machinery and technology.

“The Greener Hope Agricultural Productivity Programme is essential for addressing challenges in Nigeria’s agricultural mechanization,” President Tinubu stated, reinforcing the government’s commitment to transforming Nigeria into an economy of opportunities.

Origin Tech Group, with over 25 years of experience and a successful track record in partnerships and market development, will oversee the establishment of mechanization hubs nationwide. This initiative is expected to significantly boost the agricultural sector’s contribution to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

For decades, Origin Tech Group has been a market leader, providing innovative solutions across various sectors, including food systems, automotive, civil engineering, and construction.
