Lagos Energy Summit to Drive Electricity Investment, Market Development

Investment opportunities, electricity market development and sustainable energy solutions will take centre stage as Lagos State hosts the second Lagos Energy Summit on November 10 and 11, 2026.

The summit, organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), will focus particularly on the implementation of the Lagos State Electricity Law, 2024, and its implications for private sector participation and investment across the electricity value chain.

The event, themed “Lagos Energy Evolution: Transforming the Future,” will hold at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, bringing together policymakers, regulators, investors, development partners, industry leaders and innovators.

The summit was initially scheduled for September but was moved to November to allow further preparations for the high-level event.

According to the state government, discussions will examine the evolving regulatory framework and its role in supporting a reliable and sustainable electricity market, alongside opportunities in renewable energy, electricity infrastructure and decentralised generation.

Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Biodun Ogunleye, said the summit would assess progress in the state’s electricity sector and identify areas for strategic investment.

“The Summit will not only review the progress recorded since the enactment of the Lagos State Electricity Law, but will also catalyse strategic partnerships and investments that will deliver measurable outcomes across the generation, transmission and distribution value chain,” he said.

The programme will feature plenary sessions, technical masterclasses, investment roundtables, exhibitions and business-to-business engagements.

Participants will also explore potential partnerships, Memoranda of Understanding and other investment opportunities, while technical visits to selected energy infrastructure projects will provide practical insight into ongoing developments across the state.

The summit is expected to attract more than 4,000 participants physically and virtually, providing a platform for engagement among government institutions, regulators, investors, development partners, industry players and innovators.

The state government said the event aligns with its Net Zero Agenda and Vision 2030, with emphasis on sustainable energy development and an enabling environment for investment in the sector.
