Lagos Police Arrest Suspected Cultist, Recover Pistol in Ebute Metta

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and alleged cultist in Ebute Metta following a distress call from residents over his activities in the community.

The suspect, identified as Odeshola Afeez, 22, was apprehended after members of the public alerted the police that a young man was harassing passers-by and causing panic within the area.

According to the Command, operatives responded swiftly to the report and deployed personnel to the scene, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

A search conducted on Afeez reportedly led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, one live cartridge and charms concealed in his possession.

Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is a notorious cultist who had allegedly been terrorising residents and engaging in activities capable of disrupting public peace and security within the community.

The Command further disclosed that the suspect had allegedly evaded arrest on previous occasions before his eventual apprehension by police operatives.

Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the officers involved in the operation for their prompt response and professionalism.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling cultism, armed robbery and other violent crimes across Lagos State, noting that efforts would continue to ensure the safety of residents.

The police boss also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information that could aid crime prevention and detection.
