The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has announced plans for the 2026 edition of the Lagos International Fire Safety Conference, LIFSC, aimed at deepening national conversations around fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and public safety.
The conference, tagged LIFSC 3.0, is scheduled to hold from July 6 to 8 at the Lagos Marriott Hotel Ikeja and is expected to bring together fire service leaders, emergency responders, policymakers, corporate organisations, safety professionals, students, exhibitors, and innovators from across Nigeria and beyond.
Organisers described the conference as a growing public safety movement focused on promoting awareness, prevention, collaboration, and stronger emergency response systems.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, said fire safety should be treated as a collective responsibility rather than the duty of government alone.
According to her, every home, market, school, office, and institution must embrace safety as a culture and not an afterthought.
“This conference is an opportunity to educate, collaborate, and build a safer society for all Nigerians,” she said.
The conference will feature keynote sessions, live demonstrations, strategic dialogues, exhibitions, safety innovations, and stakeholder engagements designed to strengthen fire safety awareness and preparedness.
Conference consultant and Chief Executive Officer of HSENations, Femi Da-silva, described the initiative as more than a conference, calling it a national wake-up call on preventable fire disasters and safety consciousness.
According to him, the event seeks to stimulate conversations around preparedness and prevention in homes, schools, markets, workplaces, and across social media platforms.
“We want Nigerians to begin asking questions about preparedness, prevention, and protection. Safety awareness must become part of our everyday life,” he stated.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service called on government institutions, corporate organisations, educational institutions, emergency agencies, development partners, media organisations, and the general public to participate in and support the initiative.
Adeseye reiterated that the core message of the conference remains the promotion of awareness, preparedness, and proactive action toward building a safer society.
