FirstBank has announced a series of nationwide engagements to commemorate the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, reaffirming its commitment to youth development, education, and community impact.
In a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday, the bank said it is partnering with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the Nigeria Future Leaders Festival and Lexicon to sponsor activities aimed at educating, inspiring, and empowering children across the country.
According to the bank, the celebrations will begin on May 25 with sponsorship of the NTA Abuja Children’s Day event in Abuja and the Youth Edutainment Theatre (YET) Festival in Lagos. This will be followed by support for the Nigeria Future Leaders Festival on May 26.
FirstBank also disclosed that it would support several Children’s Day activities on May 27, including the Lexicon Children’s Day Games, the NTA Channel 10 Lagos event, and the NTA Yola Children’s Day Party.
The bank stated that the programmes are designed to promote creativity, confidence, inclusion, and learning among children from different backgrounds.
Speaking on the initiative, Olayinka Ijabiyi, Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications at FirstBank, said the engagements align with the bank’s youth development and empowerment strategy.
“Children are the foundation of a sustainable and prosperous future. Our support for children on their special day is an intentional investment in nurturing creativity, building confidence, and empowering the next generation with opportunities they need to grow and thrive,” Ijabiyi said.
He added that the bank remains committed to creating meaningful experiences that inspire future leaders across Nigeria.
FirstBank noted that the sponsorship aligns with its sustainability framework, which focuses on education, health, and social welfare as major pillars of its impact initiatives.
The bank also highlighted some of its youth-focused financial products, including KidsFirst, MeFirst, and Xplore First, which are designed to promote financial literacy and encourage a savings culture among young Nigerians.
Beyond the Children’s Day engagements, FirstBank said it would also support the 2026 edition of the ReadBug Literature Festival scheduled to hold in Abuja in July.
