Tragic Boat Accident Claims Lives in Ipokia,Ogun State As Police Launches Investigation

A tragic boat accident occurred today around 7:00 AM in Ipokia area of Ogun State.

Two local wood merchants, Awhanse Jimoh and Ahohe Jimoh, who reported the incident to the Ipokia Divisional Police Officer said two persons Ahohe Seido and an individual known only by the alias Dogbon are suspected dead.

According to their report, Seido and Dogbon were transporting firewood along the Gbodo Jego River in Ijofin, Ipokia. Their destination was the Benin Republic, where they intended to sell the wood.

“During their journey, a sudden, strong current caused their boat to capsize, throwing all passengers into the water. Despite immediate rescue attempts, only Awhanse Jimoh and Ahohe Jimoh were rescued and brought to safety.”

“Tragically, Ahohe Seido and Dogbon did not survive the accident. Despite extensive search efforts by community divers, their bodies have yet to be recovered.”

Ongoing search and rescue operations are being conducted in hopes of locating the missing individuals.

Meanwhile, the Police say an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident and to verify the details provided by the survivors.
