STUDENTS’ WELFARE TAKES CENTRE STAGE AS NANS PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO LASU VICE CHANCELLOR



The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS led by the President, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM.

The visit which happened on. Wednesday, 21st February 2024 was aimed at discussing the welfare of Lagos State University Students and to establish a collaborative working relationship for the Lagos State University Management, Lagos State University, Students’ Union (LASUSU), and National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

Recognising the importance of addressing the concerns of students, the Vice Chancellor’s representative, Prof. Olufunsho Omobitan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), warmly welcomed the NANS delegates and assured them that students and staff welfare were among the top priorities of the Vice Chancellor’s strategic goals.


He further expressed the university’s commitment to promoting and safeguarding the interests of LASU students under all circumstances.


Earlier in the day, the NANS delegate was at the Buba Marwa Auditorium to observe the day two (2) orientation programme for the newly admitted students at the Buba Marwa Auditorium.

In attendance at the visit were the University Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel A. FANU; University Librarian, Dr. Ok l Omawunmi Makinde; Deputy Registrar, Vice Chancellor’s Office, Dr. Lateef Shekoni; Acting Dean, Students’ Affairs Division, Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan; Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Lateef Salami, amongst others.


Representatives from the NANS team include Senate  President, Com. Babatunde Akinteye, Clerk of the Senate, Com. Oladimeji Uthman, Chief of Staff Senate, Com. Omotosho Surprise, and Com. Alimi Olalekan, among others.

Representatives from the LASUSU executives include : President, Com. Haroun Tobun, Treasurer, Com. Olalere Yusuff, Public Relations Officer, Com. Ibiade Benjamin, Welfare, Com. Apata Oluwasegun, Assistant General Secretary, Com. Adekunle Dhulkifil, Financial Secretary, Com. Olaitan Oluwafemi and Rt. Hon. Osho Steven, Speaker, Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology Victoria Island, Lagos.

Rt. Hon. Hassan Haleemah, Speaker, Students’ Parliamentary Counci,l and members of the Parliament were also in attendance.

Members of staff in the Vice Chancellor’s Office and Centre for Information and Public Relations (CIPR) were at the meeting.
