The Port & Terminal Multiservices Limited, PTML Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has organised a leadership seminar for senior officers as part of efforts to strengthen leadership capacity, professionalism and service delivery at the Command.
The seminar, held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the PTML Command Conference Hall, was organised in line with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, to build a more efficient, motivated and service-oriented workforce.
Declaring the seminar open, the Acting Area Controller, DC Nura Ibrahim Miko, said effective leadership was critical to the Command’s ability to deliver on the Service’s mandates of revenue generation, trade facilitation and suppression of smuggling.
Miko said the Command remained committed to initiatives that promote the welfare, health and productivity of its officers, including the recently introduced Work-Life Balance Initiative.
He delivered the first session, titled, “Leadership and Followership: Building a Culture of Collaboration and Excellence,” urging officers to apply the lessons from the seminar to their daily responsibilities.
He also reassured stakeholders and members of the trading community of the Command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency and an improved ease of doing business.
Miko commended the participants for their active engagement and stressed that effective leadership and teamwork were essential to achieving improved service delivery.
A major highlight of the seminar was the presentation of Certificates of Excellence to Assistant Comptroller J.O. Ezekuse, Officer-in-Charge, Mile 2 Gate, and Chief Superintendent of Customs C.A. Ibrahim, Officer-in-Charge, Legal Unit of the Command.
Presenting the certificates, Miko said the recognition was part of the Command’s mechanism for identifying and rewarding diligence, selflessness and efficient service delivery.
He urged other officers to remain committed to excellence and continue giving their best in the service of the country, stressing that outstanding performance would be recognised and rewarded.
Participants, drawn from the ranks of Chief Superintendent of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs, received training on strategic leadership, effective communication, decision-making, conflict management and ethical conduct.
