Security chiefs in Ogun State have conducted a high-level joint operational assessment and show of force along the Ogun–Ondo border corridor as part of efforts to strengthen security, consolidate the gains of the ongoing “Operation Kosaye” and combat criminal activities across the axis.
The exercise, coordinated by the Ogun State Police Command, covered strategic communities in the Ogun Waterside axis, including Iwopin, Abigi and Ibiade, extending from Itele-Ijebu to the boundary with Ondo State.
The operation brought together the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni; Security Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, Edward Ajogun; Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, J. O. Onu; Director of the Department of State Services in Ogun State, R. A. Adelakun; Ogun State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo; Commander of the Ogun State Security Network Agency, Alade Adedigba; and Commander of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo.
Executive chairmen of Ijebu East, Ijebu North East and Ogun Waterside Local Government Areas also participated in the exercise.
The assessment covered the Ijebu Ode–Ore Expressway corridor, traversing J2, J3, J4, Itele, Atoyo, Agerige, Ogbere, Ibiade, Iwopin, Abigi and terminating at Ajebandele, the boundary community between Ogun and Ondo states.
According to the police, the security team inspected vulnerable locations, reviewed operational requirements and assessed terrain and environmental factors affecting security operations within the corridor.
The exercise also provided an opportunity to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, improve intelligence sharing and engage local stakeholders to enhance community participation in crime prevention.
The show of force was aimed at reassuring residents and commuters of the readiness of security agencies to protect lives and property, maintain security dominance along the corridor and respond promptly to emerging threats.
Speaking after the operation, Ojajuni commended the cooperation among the participating security agencies, government officials and other stakeholders.
He reaffirmed the police command’s commitment to sustaining joint security operations, improving intelligence gathering, leveraging technology-driven policing and strengthening collaboration with communities to prevent crime across the state.
The police commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, stressing that effective security depends on strong collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the public.
