Ogun Police Spokesman Identifies Need For Ethical Communication to Strengthen Public Trust

Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, DSP Babaseyi B. Oluseyi has stressed the importance of responsible communication in building public trust, protecting institutional credibility and shaping Nigeria’s image.

The position was highlighted during a sensitisation walk organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ogun State Chapter, in support of the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) Abuja 2026, scheduled for November.

Speaking on the importance of ethical communication, Oluseyi emphasised the need for truth, professionalism and integrity in public engagements.

He noted that communication influences public confidence in institutions and how Nigeria is perceived, particularly at a time when misinformation poses challenges to accurate reporting and public understanding.

Oluseyi stressed that ethical journalism and responsible public relations should work together to ensure that Nigeria’s challenges are acknowledged honestly and its achievements presented accurately.

He added that communication should go beyond attracting attention to informing the public, promoting unity and inspiring confidence.
