The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the deaths of veteran broadcaster and retired Ogun State Television, OGTV personality, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Ogun State.
According to the police, the incident was reported to the Owode Egba Division on Sunday after a resident raised concerns over suspicious activities around the property.
Police detectives who responded to the scene reportedly discovered signs of forced entry and disturbance. A search of the premises led to the recovery of the body of the security guard inside the security post, while Oyesiku’s body was later found within the apartment. Her vehicle was also reported missing from the residence.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has directed a comprehensive investigation into the incident, with detectives expanding surveillance and intelligence-gathering operations aimed at identifying and arresting those responsible.
In a follow-up statement, the Command cautioned against speculation surrounding the circumstances of the deaths, stressing that there is currently no evidence to suggest that the deceased was attacked by gunmen.
Police said preliminary findings revealed no gunshot wounds on the body, urging members of the public and media organisations to refrain from circulating unverified reports that could mislead the public or hinder investigations.
The Command expressed condolences to the family of the late broadcaster, the Ogun State Television community, media practitioners, and other affected persons, assuring that every effort is being made to uncover the circumstances surrounding the deaths and ensure justice is served.
Police further appealed to residents to remain calm and provide any useful information that may assist investigators in resolving the case.
