The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal, KLT Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, has recorded a seamless change of leadership as Deputy Comptroller BL Adigun officially took over as the new Acting Customs Area Controller.
He succeeds Assistant Comptroller General E.J. Edelduok, who has been elevated to the Service’s management team.
The brief handing-over ceremony, held at the Command’s conference hall on Friday, December 5, 2025, drew senior officers, partner agencies, and industry stakeholders who gathered to witness what was widely described as a smooth and well-coordinated leadership transition in keeping with Customs’ long-standing administrative tradition.
In her remarks, ACG Edelduok expressed deep appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs and the management team for the opportunity to serve.
She described her tenure at KLT as fulfilling, attributing the Command’s achievements to teamwork, professionalism, and consistent stakeholder support. Edelduok urged officers and partners to extend the same loyalty and cooperation to her successor.
In his acceptance speech, Acting Area Controller Adigun thanked the Comptroller-General for the confidence reposed in him and lauded Edelduok’s exemplary leadership.
He pledged to sustain and strengthen the Command’s performance, with particular emphasis on revenue generation, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and operational integrity.
Adigun called on officers to remain disciplined and committed, while also seeking the continued collaboration of stakeholders to achieve the Service’s core mandate.
Stakeholders present described the transition as a hallmark of stability and institutional maturity within the Nigeria Customs Service. Many expressed optimism that the new leadership would further enhance the Command’s efficiency and strategic contributions.
Highlights of the ceremony included the signing of handover documents, the symbolic presentation of the Service flag, and group photographs to mark the formal transfer of authority.
