The Murtala Muhammed Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has recorded a total revenue of ₦202.9 billion between January and December 2025, representing a 13 per cent increase over the ₦181.01 billion generated in 2024.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller G. A. Otunla, disclosed that the Command surpassed its annual revenue target, achieving 113 per cent performance for the year.
He attributed the feat to improved trader compliance, effective monitoring of import transactions, timely detection of irregularities and deliberate efforts to block revenue leakages.
Comptroller Otunla commended the dedication and professionalism of officers and men of the Command, as well as the collaboration with sister government agencies.
He also acknowledged the role of compliant traders and licensed customs agents in supporting revenue growth.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to transparency, accountability and sustained stakeholder engagement, in line with the Nigeria Customs Service’s mandate to facilitate legitimate trade while ensuring optimal revenue generation for the Federal Government.
