The Lagos State Police Command has conducted an on-the-spot security assessment at Pan-Atlantic University following the circulation of a viral video showing two masked individuals emerging from a forested area adjoining the institution.
The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, led operational personnel of the Command to the university on a security inspection visit aimed at evaluating the situation and strengthening safety measures within and around the campus.
During the visit, the police chief met with the university’s management and emphasized the need for continuous improvement of the institution’s security architecture. He advised the management to adopt practical measures to reinforce existing security arrangements and cautioned against actions capable of undermining security efforts.
CP Fatai also stressed the importance of proactive security management, urging the institution to strengthen perimeter protection, improve access control systems, and maintain close collaboration with security agencies.
As part of efforts to enhance surveillance and support policing operations in the area, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund has deployed surveillance drones to monitor the axis. The aerial surveillance initiative, facilitated by the Lagos State Government, is expected to improve intelligence gathering, crime prevention, and rapid response capabilities around the institution and surrounding communities.
The Commissioner reassured students, staff, management, and parents of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State, noting that security agencies remain vigilant and proactive in addressing potential threats.
He further called on residents and stakeholders to remain alert and continue providing credible information to law enforcement authorities to support ongoing security efforts.
The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its determination to sustain peace, public safety, and security across the state while encouraging members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency communication channels.
