JMG Solar Projects Target ₦152m in Annual Diesel Savings

Two hybrid solar projects inaugurated by JMG Limited in the third quarter of 2026 are projected to save more than ₦152 million annually in diesel costs, highlighting the potential of renewable energy to reduce operating expenses for Nigerian businesses.

The projects, installed for La Chaumiere Group and at JMG’s Victoria Island branch in Lagos, are expected to cut combined diesel consumption by about 85,000 litres yearly while improving power reliability.

At La Chaumiere Group, a hospitality and culinary business, JMG installed a 133.12kWp solar photovoltaic system, supported by 160kW hybrid inverters and 163.84kWh of high-voltage lithium battery storage.

The system is projected to generate about 210.86MWh of electricity annually, reduce diesel use by approximately 57,000 litres and deliver more than ₦102 million in annual fuel savings. It is also expected to prevent over 76 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

At JMG’s Victoria Island branch, a 66kWp installation, with 80kW of hybrid inverter capacity and 81.92kWh of lithium battery storage, is expected to generate 94.8MWh of electricity annually and meet about 80 per cent of the branch’s energy needs.

The installation is projected to reduce diesel consumption by around 28,000 litres annually, save an estimated ₦50 million in fuel costs and avoid more than 37 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

JMG said both systems were designed using detailed energy-load analysis and PVsyst simulation to determine the appropriate capacity for each location. The installations use LONGi solar modules, Deye hybrid inverters and Deye high-voltage lithium battery storage.

The company’s Head of Solar Division, Hussein Abbas, said the projects demonstrated how businesses could combine reliable electricity supply with lower energy costs and reduced dependence on diesel.

“Businesses need power they can depend on, but they also need solutions that make financial sense,” Abbas said, adding that properly designed hybrid systems could improve operational efficiency while supporting sustainability goals.

The Victoria Island installation will also serve as a demonstration facility where customers, consultants and project developers can observe the technology operating in a business environment.

JMG said it provides turnkey solar and hybrid power solutions tailored to businesses’ energy requirements as organisations seek ways to manage rising energy costs and unreliable electricity supply.
