FASU Lagos 2024 Games to Conclude with Grand Closing Ceremony

The 11th Federation of African University Sports FASU Games, hosted by the University of Lagos, UNILAG and the Lagos State University, LASU is set to conclude today, September 29, with a grand closing ceremony at the LASU Sports Complex, Ojo Lagos.

The Games, which began on September 21 with great fanfare, have brought together athletes from universities across Africa to compete in a series of thrilling events, promoting unity and sportsmanship among African universities.

The closing ceremony, scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at LASU, will feature distinguished guests, including the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, FASU President, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, and the Minister of Sports Development, John Owen Enoh.

The ceremony will be hosted by LASU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello and UNILAG Vice-Chancellor Prof. Folasade Ogunsola.

As the FASU Games come to a close, Lagos will bid farewell to the competing universities and athletes, capping off a week filled with competitive sporting events and the celebration of African athletic talent.

Prior to the closing ceremony, the final football match of the tournament will take place at 10:00 a.m., with the University of Development Studies (UDS) from Ghana facing off against UNILAG, Nigeria, at the UNILAG Sports Centre.


Meanwhile, buses will be available to transport guests from UNILAG to LASU following the football match. All athletes, officials, and spectators are encouraged to attend the grand finale.
