EGO Foundation, in partnership with Access Holdings and with support from AIESEC Plateau, has successfully implemented the SheEnabled Plateau Project, a market based empowerment initiative designed to provide practical business training, financial literacy, for women traders at Chobe Market, Plateau State.
The one day field programme, which was held on Wednesday, 5th October 2025, reached over 2,000 indigent women through short, impactful sessions focused on Access to Funding, Bookkeeping & Simple Financial Management, and Profitable Savings Strategies.
Designed as a field first intervention, SheEnabled brought learning directly to where women work and trade, the market combining community mobilisation through market leaders, interactive facilitation by EGO Foundation trainers, and on site volunteer support from AIESEC Plateau.
“Hitting the market with short, practical training is the best way to reach women who do not usually have time for lengthy courses,” said Happiness Emordi, Project Manager at EGO Foundation. “SheEnabled is about delivering immediate value, simple bookkeeping templates, clearer savings habits, and direct links to funding pathways that can change household incomes.”
Believe Ogbuehi, Director of Partnerships at AIESEC Plateau, added, “Our mobilisation networks and youth volunteers made it possible to reach women at scale and ensure the training reached those who need it most.”
The project also included post event follow up, connecting interested participants to financial literacy support and Access Bank’s SME Desk for business growth opportunities. The initiative recorded outstanding feedback, with many beneficiaries expressing renewed confidence in managing their small businesses more efficiently.
