Ogun Police Command Rolls Out Enhanced Security Measures Ahead Easter Holiday

As Christians prepare to mark the 2025 Easter celebration, the Ogun State Police Command has announced the deployment of comprehensive security measures to ensure a peaceful and incident-free holiday across the state.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the command assured residents of intensified surveillance and patrols, particularly across major highways, border towns, and strategic public locations.

The security reinforcement comes on the heels of the Federal Government’s declaration of Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, as public holidays to commemorate Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively.

According to the statement, a robust operational strategy has been activated. Key areas under enhanced surveillance include the Sagamu Interchange, Long Bridge, Ijebu Ode-Benin Highway, Sango Ota, Idiroko, and Alapako.

Other critical locations such as financial institutions, government facilities, tertiary institutions, worship centers, and VIP protection zones will also receive special attention.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, emphasized the importance of community cooperation during the festive period. He urged residents, visitors, and fun-seekers to celebrate responsibly, remain security-conscious, and report any suspicious activities promptly.

“In collaboration with other security agencies, we are committed to ensuring a secure environment for all. Stop-and-search operations will be conducted in vulnerable areas to deter criminal activity and protect lives and property,” the statement read.

Residents were also advised to take personal responsibility by securing their homes and exercising caution while travelling.
