The Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners, CONMMEP has honoured the Public Relations Officer of the Tin Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Chief Superintendent of Customs, Oscar Enya Ivara, with its Customs Commands’ Best Public Relations Officer Award.
The award was presented during CONMMEP’s Annual Lecture and 5th Anniversary Celebration held in Ikeja, Lagos, in recognition of Ivara’s outstanding contributions to strategic communication, media relations and stakeholder engagement.
CONMMEP described Ivara as one of the country’s most responsive and professional Customs spokespersons, noting that his more than 13 years of media engagement have strengthened collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service and maritime journalists while promoting transparency and timely dissemination of information.
The association also commended his role in promoting the B’Odogwu Customs clearance platform at the Tin Can Island Port Command, saying the initiative has enhanced compliance, operational efficiency and revenue transparency.
CONMMEP President, Comrade Udo Onyeka, said the association would continue to recognise public officers and maritime professionals whose integrity, dedication and service contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s maritime sector.
Receiving the award, Ivara thanked CONMMEP for the recognition, describing it as both humbling and motivating.
“The reward for hard work is more work. I sincerely thank CONMMEP for finding me worthy of this honour. I will not take this recognition for granted,” he said.
He also congratulated the association on its fifth anniversary and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining its partnership with the maritime media.
