CIG Motors Group has strengthened security operations in Lagos State with the donation of 10 operational vehicles valued at over N300 million to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF.
The vehicles were formally handed over by Chairman of CIG Motors Group, Chief Diana Chen, to the Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, at the company’s international headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The fleet comprises four Wuling N111 vehicles, three Wuling XC250 vehicles and three JMC Vigus pickup trucks, which are expected to support security mobility, logistics, field deployment and emergency response operations across the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ogunsan commended Chen and CIG Motors for their sustained commitment to Lagos security, describing the intervention as a demonstration of confidence in the state’s security agenda.
He noted that the donation was particularly significant because LSSTF is a donor-funded interventionist agency that relies largely on contributions from individuals, businesses and corporate organisations to provide support to security agencies.
“Madam, we will not forget this in a long time. Generations will not forget it. Posterity will not forget it. Your name will be written in gold for taking this bold step,” Ogunsan said.
He assured CIG Motors that the vehicles would be properly maintained and deployed to achieve maximum operational impact, stressing that the intervention represented an investment in the safety and prosperity of Lagos.
Ogunsan also pledged to promote CIG Motors as a worthy private-sector partner, saying he would henceforth serve as the company’s “sales representative” in recognition of its contribution to strengthening the state’s security architecture.
On her part, Chief Chen described security as fundamental to economic prosperity, noting that a secure environment is essential for investment, enterprise, job creation and sustainable development.
“Security is the first infrastructure of prosperity. Protecting Lagos means protecting lives, livelihoods, enterprise and the economic future of our nation,” she said.
Chen said Lagos, as Nigeria’s commercial capital and one of Africa’s major economic centres, requires a secure environment where residents, businesses and investors can thrive.
She added that the donation was a practical contribution towards strengthening the institutions responsible for protecting Lagos and its residents.
“CIG Motors is a long-term business and development partner to the Lagos State Government. Our investments in mobility, local vehicle assembly, employment, public transportation and security support reflect our commitment to the continued development of Lagos State,” she said.
The latest intervention builds on CIG Motors’ previous support for security and public-sector institutions. In September 2020, the company donated five fully equipped Dongfeng security operational trucks to the LSSTF, which were allocated to the Rapid Response Squad, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps and Lagos State Taskforce.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief Diana Chen Foundation also donated 50,000 face masks, an ambulance and N20 million to support frontline security and healthcare interventions in Lagos.
In August 2022, CIG Motors donated a vehicle to the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos Sector Command, while the Group has also supplied vehicles to the Dangote Group for the Nigeria Police Force and partnered with several state governments to support security operations.
Beyond security, CIG Motors’ partnership with Lagos State includes investments in local automobile assembly and its involvement in LAGRIDE, supporting transportation, employment creation, driver empowerment and urban mobility.
The company said its latest donation reinforces its commitment to supporting the institutions responsible for securing Lagos, with the expectation that improved mobility will enable security personnel to respond faster to threats and emergencies and enhance the protection of lives and property across the state.
