The Somolu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, has completed the reconstruction of Opanubi Road in Ward C, Ijebutedo, despite heavy rainfall in recent days.
The road, rebuilt with interlocking paving stones, is located within Somolu’s major printing hub and connects to Akeju Street, which was completed weeks ago, as well as Rufai Street and the Awofeso Phase 3/Eyo axis, where renewal works have commenced.
The project is expected to improve connectivity for residents and road users while supporting commercial activities in the area.
Speaking on the project, Ashimi expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the removal of fuel subsidy and broader economic reforms had empowered grassroots administrations to undertake more sustainable infrastructure projects.
Following an inspection of the community, the Supervisor for Works and Infrastructure, Alhaji Kabir Raji, the Special Adviser, Alhaji Rafiu Ajagbe, and Engineer Babafemi Osifala said additional road reconstruction projects would be undertaken under the Ashimi-led administration.
They said the projects were aimed at addressing dilapidated roads across the local government.
