The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Jimoh, has paid an official courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.
A statement issued after the visit said the AIG, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, and members of the zonal management team, formally introduced himself to the governor as the newly posted AIG overseeing Zone 2 Headquarters.
During the meeting, AIG Jimoh expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government for its continued support to the Nigeria Police Force, particularly in the areas of logistics, operational assistance, and welfare initiatives aimed at improving policing and crime prevention.
He highlighted achievements recorded within the zone, noting that ongoing security efforts had contributed significantly to reducing crime and maintaining peace and public safety in Lagos and Ogun states.
The AIG also informed the governor of key reforms introduced since assuming office, including a complete ban on the transfer of cases from state commands to the zonal headquarters as part of efforts to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
He further disclosed that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, had approved the creation of seven additional police divisional headquarters in Lagos State following recommendations he made while serving as Commissioner of Police in the state.
Jimoh assured the governor of the zone’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, and sustaining a secure environment for residents and businesses.
He also commended CP Tijani Fatai for his efforts in tackling crime and criminality across Lagos State.
Responding, Governor Sanwo-Olu welcomed the AIG and described the visit as a “homecoming,” recalling Jimoh’s previous service as Commissioner of Police in Lagos State.
The governor described Zone 2 as one of the foremost police zones in the country and expressed confidence in the AIG’s leadership, professionalism, and experience.
Sanwo-Olu also appreciated the Inspector-General of Police for ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force, especially the approval of additional divisional headquarters for Lagos State, noting that the development would bring policing closer to the people and strengthen public trust in the force.
He pledged the continued support and cooperation of the Lagos State Government towards strengthening the state’s security architecture and ensuring safer communities.
