The Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership, NCSP has called for stronger commitment to innovation, collaboration, and execution as key drivers of sustainable development, as the world marks the World Creativity and Innovation Day 2026.
In a statement commemorating the day, the Partnership emphasised that this year’s theme, “Recreating Tomorrow Today,” highlights the need for stakeholders across public and private sectors to move beyond ideas and focus on actionable solutions with measurable impact.
According to NCSP, creativity and critical thinking remain essential in advancing the United Nations-backed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in tackling challenges such as economic inequality, climate change, and inclusive growth.
The organisation noted that its ongoing engagements between Nigeria and China are designed to translate innovation into tangible outcomes across key sectors, including infrastructure, technology, manufacturing, and the creative economy.
As a bilateral platform, NCSP said it continues to promote knowledge transfer, deepen investment linkages, and support scalable solutions that enhance Nigeria’s global competitiveness.
Speaking on the significance of the day, the Director-General of NCSP, Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, stressed the importance of outcome-driven innovation.
“Creativity must go beyond ideas. It must lead to action. This is how we solve real problems, create opportunities, and shape a better future,” he said.
Tegbe added that structured collaboration between Nigeria and China offers significant opportunities, particularly by combining Nigerian talent with Chinese technological advancement to unlock growth across sectors.
He further highlighted the growing importance of the creative economy as a driver of job creation, entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange, especially given Nigeria’s large youth population.
NCSP reaffirmed its commitment to supporting talent development, strengthening global partnerships, and promoting innovation-led growth, noting that sustained progress depends on the ability of institutions to translate ideas into execution and collaboration into real impact.
