Operatives of Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested seven suspected criminals linked to multiple cases of murder, armed robbery, and other violent offences in Lagos.
The arrests were carried out by the Zonal Puff Adder team under the leadership of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, following intelligence-driven operations targeting criminal hideouts in the state.
Police said the breakthrough began on March 3, 2026, with the arrest of a 23-year-old suspect, Fawas Opeyemi Alarape, also known as “Karube,” who is alleged to be involved in multiple violent crimes, including murder and armed robbery.
According to the police, information obtained from the suspect led operatives to a notorious criminal hideout known as “Lion’s Den” located on Adeleye Street in Orile Iganmu area of Lagos, where five additional suspects were apprehended. Another suspect was arrested at White Sand, also in Orile Iganmu.
Those arrested include Soliu Ahmed, Oluwaseun Bolarinwa, Bamidele Mustapha, Abass Abideen, Salisu Ali, and Atanda Lukmon.
During the raid, police recovered a locally made cut-to-size shotgun, four cutlasses, a knife, a claw hammer, four live cartridges, three expended cartridges, and assorted charms.
Investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly confessed to involvement in several murders within the Orile Iganmu axis. Police said the prime suspect admitted to participating in the killing of a tricycle rider identified as Ikujowolo at Shitta Under Bridge in Surulere, where the victim was robbed of his tricycle and shot dead.
The suspect also implicated an accomplice, identified as Ahmed Oladele, also known as “Small Messi,” who is currently at large.
Further confessions linked the suspects to the killings of Olumide Adegbite, Kehinde Shuaibu, and Monday Okoro in separate incidents in February 2026.
Police authorities said the suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations, adding that they will be charged to court upon conclusion of the probe.
Commending the operatives, AIG Jimoh praised their professionalism and bravery, reiterating the command’s resolve to rid Lagos and neighbouring Ogun State of criminal elements.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support the police with timely and credible information.
