The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, Olohundare Jimoh, has sensitised stakeholders and commercial drivers on the dangers of electoral violence and the importance of safe driving practices as part of activities marking Day 3 of National Police Day 2026.
The sensitisation programme, held at the Zonal Headquarters, brought together stakeholders, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), and residents from Lagos and Ogun states.
The session focused on preventing electoral violence, particularly ballot snatching, while highlighting the roles citizens must play in ensuring peaceful democratic processes.
As part of the outreach, AIG Jimoh also engaged commercial drivers at the Obalende motor park in Lagos, where he stressed the need for strict compliance with traffic regulations. He warned against reckless driving, overloading, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The AIG noted that commercial drivers play a crucial role in maintaining public order and safety, adding that adherence to traffic laws is key to reducing road accidents and protecting lives and property.
He commended stakeholders for their participation in the National Police Day activities and reaffirmed the commitment of the Zone 2 Command to sustained public engagement and community partnership in safeguarding residents across the two states.
