Ogun Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, has officially kicked off activities marking Police Week 2026 in line with the National Police Day celebrations.
The week-long programme began with a dual initiative: a free medical screening for residents and a statewide sanitation exercise, reflecting the Command’s commitment to community engagement, public health, and environmental cleanliness.
The medical outreach, organised by the Command’s Department of Force Medical Services, took place at the NUJ Council Secretariat, Iwe Iroyin, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta. Members of the public received free blood sugar and blood pressure checks, BMI assessments, and health talks emphasizing regular exercise and preventive healthcare.
The Command acknowledged the support of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (Ogun State Council) and media personnel, whose collaboration helped ensure the programme’s success.
In tandem, sanitation exercises were carried out across all Area Commands and Divisions in the state, underscoring the Police Command’s proactive role in fostering healthier and cleaner communities.
Speaking on the initiative, the Command reiterated its commitment to people-centered policing, highlighting that such programmes strengthen police-community relations and enhance public trust.
Residents who benefited from the outreach described the activities as timely and impactful, praising the police for extending services beyond traditional law enforcement duties.
Police Week activities in Ogun State will continue throughout the week, featuring additional community-oriented programmes aimed at promoting health, safety, and civic responsibility.
