Newly appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has officially resumed duty at the Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, overseeing operations in Lagos and Ogun states.
In his inaugural address, Jimoh described his appointment as both an honour and a call to service, assuring residents of improved security through intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention strategies, and strengthened community engagement.
He underscored the strategic importance of Lagos and Ogun states to Nigeria’s economy and overall security architecture, stressing the need for stronger collaboration between the police and key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, youth groups, traders, and government officials.
The AIG also called on the media to play a constructive role in fostering trust between the police and the public, while cautioning against the spread of unverified information capable of undermining the integrity of the Force.
As part of activities marking his resumption, Jimoh decorated six officers promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), including Abel Ademola, Aderonke Bakare, Raji Ganiu, Iliazu Lawal, Olusola Abolarinwa, Samuel Ijachi and Olufemi Oyekanmi.
He commended the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission for the promotions, urging the newly elevated officers to justify the confidence reposed in them through professionalism, discipline, and dedication to duty.
