JMG Limited has reinforced its commitment to sustainable engineering and clean energy adoption with an Engineering Walk held in Lagos to promote awareness around solar energy and integrated energy solutions.
The initiative, organised to commemorate World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development, kicked off from the company’s head office in Victoria Island and drew participation from key stakeholders, including students from the University of Lagos and Yaba College of Technology, as well as members of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
The event also attracted influencers and company staff, reflecting a growing collective commitment to advancing engineering solutions that are innovative, sustainable, and accessible.
Speaking during the walk, Chief Commercial Officer of JMG, Rabi Jammal, said the initiative was aimed at drawing attention to the broader concept of sustainable engineering.
“We want to shine a light on a very important issue: sustainable engineering. It’s about designing systems that are efficient, reliable, and built to last. Solar energy is one part of that conversation, but the bigger picture is how engineering can sustainably power our lives and industries,” he said.
Amid rising energy costs and inconsistent power supply in Nigeria, the company noted that integrated engineering solutions offer a viable pathway to reducing reliance on costly and environmentally harmful energy sources.
JMG explained that its operations span power generation, electrical infrastructure, vertical transportation, cooling systems, and air compressors, reflecting a holistic approach that prioritises efficiency, reduced energy consumption, and long-term environmental responsibility.
Within this framework, solar energy continues to play a critical role due to its affordability, reliability, and compatibility with broader engineering systems across residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
Plant Manager, Fouad El Chami, emphasised the importance of continuous innovation in energy use and system integration.
“Sustainable engineering is about continuous development—improving how we use energy and how we integrate new technologies into our systems. Solar plays an important role because it helps reduce overall consumption and supports a cleaner environment,” he said.
He added that as concerns over energy supply and environmental impact intensify, integrated engineering solutions supported by cleaner energy sources will be crucial in building a more resilient future for homes and businesses.
Participants at the walk carried the message through the streets of Victoria Island, highlighting the need for a unified approach where engineering innovation, sustainability, and accessibility work together to shape Nigeria’s energy future.
