The West African Examinations Council, WAEC Nigeria, has announced the release of results for the 2026 Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination, CB-WASSCE for Private Candidates, First Series.
The examination, held across Nigeria from Wednesday, January 28 to Saturday, February 14, 2026, saw a total of 10,480 candidates sit at 166 centres nationwide, marking an 11.49% increase from the 2025 figure of 9,438 candidates.
Among those who participated, 43 candidates with varying special needs, including visual, hearing impairments, and albinism, were adequately accommodated.
Of the total candidates, 5,106 were male (48.72%) and 5,374 were female (51.28%). WAEC reported that 8,418 candidates (80.32%) have had their results fully processed and released, while 2,062 candidates (19.68%) have some subjects still under review due to errors traceable to them. Efforts are ongoing to finalize and release these pending results.
4,598 candidates (43.87%) obtained credit or above in at least five subjects (with or without English Language and Mathematics).
3,429 candidates (32.72%) achieved credit or above in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics, reflecting a marginal performance increase of 5.76% compared to 2025. Of these, 53.86% were male and 46.14% female.
WAEC also disclosed that 75 candidates (0.72%) had their results withheld in connection with reported cases of examination malpractice, which are under investigation. The affected candidates will be notified of the Council’s decisions in due course.

WAEC congratulated all candidates who excelled in the examination and extended gratitude to government authorities, security agencies, education ministries, examiners, supervisors, and other personnel who ensured the smooth conduct and marking of the exams.
