As the activities for 2024 FASU Games commences today, the University of Lagos UNILAG has issued a Security Advisory to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all athletes, officials, and participants during theGames, scheduled to be held from September 20-29, 2024, at UNILAG and Lagos State University, LASU.
The advisory urged all participants to adhere to the following key security measures to:
1. Comprehensive Security Arrangements:
A robust security team that includes the following has been deployed for the Games:
Nigerian Police Force
Anti-terrorism (Bomb Disposal Unit)
National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)
Fire Service
Department of State Security (DSS)
Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC)
Marine Police
University of Lagos Security Officers, including Man’O’War and Legionnaires
This security team will work in collaboration with security personnel from Lagos State University (LASU) to ensure the safety of athletes and officials across the university and designated venues.
2. Currency Exchange and Banking Services:
In partnership with Lotus Bank, athletes and officials will have access to a currency exchange stand at the Sports Centre to convert foreign currency to Nigerian Naira at the official exchange rate. Additionally, POS (Point of Sale) machines will be available for secure and seamless transactions using both local and international debit cards.
3. Accommodation and Access Control:
All accredited athletes and officials will receive Access Cards upon allocation to their designated accommodations. These cards are required for entry into halls of residence and event venues. Participants should keep their identification tags visible at all times for proper identification.
4. Shopping Assistance:
For shopping outside the university campus, accredited University of Lagos student volunteers will be available to guide and assist participants. Volunteers will be stationed at various halls of residence and sporting venues to ensure safe and informed shopping experiences. The lead volunteer can be contacted for assistance.

6. Safety Protocols:
Electrical Safety: When leaving your accommodation, ensure that all electrical appliances are switched off.
Medical Emergencies: First aid kits and an on-site ambulance will be stationed at the Sports Centre, managed by the University of Lagos Medical Centre personnel.
Escort by Security Personnel Participants are encouraged to be accompanied by security personnel when moving between venues.
Traffic Management: All vehicles should be parked in designated areas as directed by the Traffic Sub-Committee.
7. UNILAG Panic Alarm App
All accredited athletes and officials are advised to download the UNILAG Panic Alarm App on:
